ABOUT US

We DesIRE TO be Christlike disciples and our mission is

to make christlike disciples!

We are a community of ordinary people with diverse backgrounds. We're teachers, military personnel, students, scientists, office and factory workers, unemployed, retirees, and stay-at-home moms. Our community consists of kids, young people, seniors, singles and families of all shapes and sizes. God is transforming our lives, so we gather together to demonstrate our love for God, love for people, and to serve our local and global communities. Hopefully you can see that you'd fit right in, just like everyone else does.

That is the briefest introduction to who we are. To really get to know us, you really need to spend some time with us in worship and other activities. Meanwhile, however, read on for a slightly more in-depth introduction.

What We Mean by, "Christlike Disciples."

A Christlike disciple can be described as one who follows the Greatest Commandments.

Jesus replied:

"'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.'" -Matthew 22:37-39

The Greatest Commandments summarized:

Love God and others.

Christlike disciples express their love for God and others through:

  • A Deepening Relationship with God—Christlike disciples practice intimate worship, both private and corporate; Bible reading and study as well as using other spiritual resources; prayer; and obedience to his leading, following him in faith.

  • Spiritual Friendships—Christlike disciples understand that friends of Jesus should be friends with each others. They frequently get together, individually and in groups, for encouragement, support, loving accountability, teamwork in mission, and even fun.

  • Servanthood—Christlike disciples follow Jesus’ example and look for ways to serve those around them.

  • Generosity—Christlike disciples understand that all they have is actually God’s and that they are but stewards. In gratitude, disciples wisely invest all their resources in God-pleasing, God-honoring ways.  (Including, but not limited to, money, food, housing, relationships, influence, skills, and time.)

  • Sharing the Faith—Christlike disciples carry out the Great Commission, by sharing God’s love with those who have not yet understood or embraced it.
