Bowling for Others!
Saturday, March 4th, 2006
at the Guttormsen Recreation Center
Rather than just having an "All-Church Bowling Party" for ourselves, we contacted our local Foster Parents Association and offered to host some of their families to a special bowling outing. Bowling fees and shoe rental were our gift to them. Our regular church families that came only slightly outnumbered the total in the five foster families that came for a total of nearly fifly people. We mingled, bowled, snacked, and met some new friends. It was truly a great time and we enjoyed being able to serve them in this way.
CPR "from" the Heart
Clean
Paint
Repair
February 8 - 11, 2006
CPR is normally performed "for" the heart. This CPR project was performed "from" the heart. Inspired by the popular home improvement shows, we decided to perform a home makeover of our own. We have a lady in our congregation who is new to "single-parent mothering." Her house was in need of a facelift and her family could use some encouragement. We met at their home on a Sunday afternoon and planned the project. Then on a Wednesday evening our teen group met and launched the project by removing the living room carpet, and bundling it up for disposal. That Friday evening a small army of volunteers descended on the home and worked late into the evening and again all day on Saturday. By the time the project was over, 31 different people had worked in the house plus others donated goods and cash. What a celebration when we welcomed home the family that Sunday afternoon.
Here are a couple sample before/during and after pictures.

Here are some pictures of the group
hard at work and having fun!
